What is a Digipack?
A Digipack is a type of packaging format for CDs or DVDs that is designed to provide a more durable and aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional jewel cases. It is a type of cardboard packaging that has a plastic tray inside to hold the disc securely. The tray is often made from clear plastic, which allows the artwork on the disc to be visible from the outside.
The History of Digipack
Digipacks were first introduced in the late 1990s as an alternative to the traditional jewel case packaging for CDs.The Digipack was originally designed by a Dutch company called AGI (Art Graphique et Industrie), who were commissioned by the French record label Naïve to create a more durable and eco-friendly alternative to the jewel case.
The Digipack was quickly adopted by other record labels, and its popularity grew throughout the early 2000s.
As digital music downloads began to rise in popularity in the mid-2000s, the demand for physical music media declined, and the use of Digipacks began to decline as well.
The purpose of Digipack
The purpose of a digipack is to provide a more durable and aesthetically pleasing alternative to the traditional jewel case packaging for CDs or DVDs. Digipacks are made from cardboard, which is more environmentally friendly and easier to recycle than the plastic used in jewel cases. The compact design of the Digipack makes it easier to store and transport than the larger jewel case, and it also allows for more creativity in design and printing options.

This Digipack features a fold-out design with several panels that contain artwork, lyrics, and photos related to the album. The disc is held securely in a clear plastic tray on the inside of the Digipack. The design of the Digipack is visually striking and provides a unique and memorable packaging option for the album.
